east coast sheds |
Was hoping someone can provide a little feedback. When talking to folks about the "shed" designs like Great woods, Merriweather, Tanglewood, ect. the designs seem weird to me. Looking at pictures it appears the "pavilion" is covered but the roof is flat. Almost enclosed. From what I can tell if you are sitting in the lawn it's tough to see the stage. Is that accurate? Maybe it's just the pictures or one of those things that you have to be at the venue to get the concept. Definitely a different design than the west coast amps.

Re: east coast sheds |
Tanglwood is actually pretty good. The roof of the shed is very high and the incline is slight but good enough that you can see over the crowd to the stage quite easily. I live in Albany, NY and go there every summer.
SPAC is ok if you are halfway up the hill..otherwise you can't see a damn thing. The best spot on the lawn there is actually under the walkway to the upper pavillion on stage left. It's pretty close and the overhang and trees keep the lights from dissipating (I've been there a lot).
I think the best views from a lawn into a shed that I've had in the east were in Canandaigua, NY, Darien Lake, NY and Camden, NJ (yes Camden is the most ghetto place ever and right next to a prison but the view from the lawn is quite good..haha)....Bethel Woods is pretty good to depending on where you are.
